Andrew Snedden Concert

On the 22 October 2011, Pianohaass joined the worldwide celebration of the bicentennial of the birth of the great Master Franz Liszt by introducing the many talents of pianist and scholar Andrew Snedden. Andrew presented the extraordinarily rich life and work of the great composer to a captivated audience. His lively lecture was filled with anecdotes, intermingled with improvisations and a selection of work from The Years of Pilgrimage cycle.
Andrew Snedden gave a fascinating insight into the personality of Liszt, of the touring virtuoso who impressed the whole of the 19th century Europe, of the Romanic Hero of his time. His lecture–recital showed the many facets of Liszt’s genius, including the unprecedented technical demands of his work.
Walter prepared a new Steinway grand piano, Model B for the recital, the perfect instrument for this intimate space. Andrew coaxed an impressive range of vibrant tones from the Steinway.

The audience was invited to stay for refreshments and mingle over a glass of wine after the recital. It was a great pleasure to listen to a passionate, talented artist in a relaxed environment without the formality of a concert hall.
Following this very enjoyable evening and the success of our other recitals in 2011, Pianohaass plans to have more of these special events in 2012. Keep an eye on our website for upcoming announcements.
